   Afflicted is a Canadian found footage film that was written and directed by Derek Lee and Clif Prowse, and is their feature film directorial debut.

     In order to consistently enjoy "Afflicted" as a cinematic rollercoaster, you have to believe the people you're observing are real.

" Footage meant to be travel memories may now become evidence of one of the most shocking discoveries ever captured on film...and perhaps will be their only postcard home."

STORY LINE :

    They're college BFFs. Clif is caring and earnest; Derek is fun loving and sweet. However, Derek confesses (to the camera) that he suffers from Arterio Venous Malformation (AVM),  a problem in his brain that could potentially burst at any moment and cripple or kill him. He and Clif decide to go on a world tour and film every step of the way, uploading everything to the internet as they go.  For Derek it could be a way of leaving his life with something to show for it; for Clif, it is an opportunity to be with his friend for as long as possible.  Their plan: travel to the ends of the earth, see what the world has to offer and live life to the fullest. Best friends Derek and Clif set out on a trip of lifetime and travel blogging friends.  Film every part of their journey and upload it to their blog, on a globe trekking adventure of their twenty-something lives. Derek and Clif spend much of their film's first half-hour trying to win viewers over with aw-shucks sincerity. They talk about getting laid, and burble about doing crazy, wild, forbidden things on their trip. And if you don't like Derek and Clif as carefree horndogs, wait a little longer, and you'll see them fumble for your heart strings.

     Despite his doctor advising him not to go due to an AVM, which could cause his death at any moment, Derek insists he has to go anyways.With a lemons-into-lemonade mandate in mind, Derek and Clif head to Barcelona. They want to see the world, and have lots of sex while Derek still can. After Barcelona Clif and Derek stop at Paris to meet with old friends currently on tour for their band. After their innitially uneventful stay, Derek picks up a girl by the name of Audrey after telling her about his AVM, Derek is assaulted by a gorgeous woman during a one-night stand that leaves him bloody, confused, strangely ill, afflicted with a mysterious disease and soon developing superhuman abilities. Derek insists he doesn't remember anything and they should continue on to their trip.

     Upon getting to Italy, Derek passes out and sleeps for an entire day. Clif awakens him the next afternoon for lunch, in which Derek shows an aversion tosunlight.Upon getting to the restaurant, Derek hungrily devours his pasta dish   before projectile, vomiting it out and stumbling back home. Back at the hotel room, Clif attempts to calm Derek down only for Derek to explosively destroy a stone wall with his bare hands. The trip soon takes a dark and bloody turn. Just days in, Derek shows signs of a mysterious affliction which gradually takes over his entire body and being.   Derek displays heightened strength, speed, agility and durability. Clif attempts to persuade Derek to stop their trip and come home, but Derek keeps insisting that he's fine. As Derek grows sicker due to not eating, he agrees to go to a hospital. On the way, they were almost hit by a car, and after a brief fight where Derek completely overpowers thedriver and passenger, he licks their blood off his hand. And these superhuman abilities  become more of a curse than a gift.

                                                             
     Clif successfully deduces that Derek contracted vampirism, but researching online proves  futile to fix Derek's  constantly deteriorating state. Now the hunt is on to find the woman who gave Derek the affliction, but it's a race against time, Because, as Derek and Cliff soon find out, Derek's illness has not just be a danger to him, but to others. Derek enters a catatonic state, and Clif decides to slit  his own wrist to give Derek some of his blood. After successfully draining some of His blood, Clif discovers Derek is gone and attempts to find him. However, Derek abuses, kills and drains the weakened Clif. Upon regaining consciousness thanks to human blood, Derek shoots himself in the head with a shotgun. Shortly after, Derek's head completely heals with only slight scarring, and he is faced with the fact that he is unable to be killed. As he becomes hunted like an animal, trying to track down the mysterious woman who has infected him, we are right there with him, heart pounding and breathless. Soon after, Italian Interpol agents  attempts to take Derek  into custody, forcing Derek to to escape in broad daylight, carrying only Clif's camera bag. He manages to get back to France and and hides in an abandoned warehouse in Paris but only to be stormed by the French Riot Police and Derek is shot to near-death before entering a frenzy state. After brutally slaughtering the police, Derek escapes once again.

     Finally in an abandoned building, where Derek meets Audrey she apologizes for everything. After she tells Derek that there is no cure for his condition, Derek lashes out at her and the two briefly fight. Realizing he's no match for her, Derek begs Audrey to kill him. However, Audrey apologetically states that there is no way she can kill him, implying she tried to kill herself before. She urges him to feed every five days, or he will turn into a feral state where he loses all traces of his humanity and kills indiscriminately every day. After reminding Derek that living without killing is not an option, Audrey says he can choose who he kills. Upon leaving, Audrey reveals that she choose him because he was dying.

    Later,at an unknown location and time, Derek 
posts his last entry online in the hopes that his family can understand why they have to stay away. Pulling a bag off of the mafia don from earlier, Derek shows the man a video he found on his cellphone of him raping and killing a little girl. Promising to give the man the same chance as the little girl, next to none, Derek frees the man and turns off the lights. As the man begins to stumble into the darkness, a light flickers on and Derek lunges at him as the credits begin to roll. In a mid-credits scene, a teenage boy and two teenage girls are seen sneaking into a swimming pool, only to be mysteriously attacked. The boy gets away, and with the camera running, finds the bloodied corpse of one of the girls before he is attacked by a vampire now, Clif.

NOTE              
   The Afflicted are simply living creatures-animal, human, plant-that have had the misfortune to get "sickened" by the malevolent spirit and "infected" with the plague that will eventually turn them into an Afflicted creature.Even if they were tame, the plague turned them into agressive and wild creatures again."Once someone or something becomes Afflicted, there is no cure. Killing the Afflicted is the only way to give the tortured soul peace; hesitation or pity will only result in death, it might be us or yours."
