WAYS OF MAKING THINGS MUCH BETTER: ATTACK ON DARFUR, THE MOVIE INFO, THE STORY

ATTACK ON DARFUR, THE MOVIE INFO, THE STORY

MOVIE INFO
People talk about what is happening in Darfur, but no one shows us what actually happens in a way that really affect us and make us move.

This film shows sheer honesty of the current, and sadly continuing, situation in Sudan, regarding the Janjaweed's ongoing Islamo-fascist genocide of the peoples of Sudan.

It was not made to entertain but rather to raise awareness and send a message to people about the atrocities in Darfur. I for one heard of Darfur in the news but knew nothing in detail until looking into it thanks to this film.
ATTACK ON DARFUR, THE MOVIE INFO, THE STORY
A vicious film that is simple in showing us what happens in Sudan. Its methodical way of presenting fiction as fact is truly noble, respectable and honest.

Most of the people playing the villagers are themselves survivors. This lends an eerie sense of realism to the film. Real victims who participated in the film, read comments from people who watched the film and pleased to be able to tell their story and confirmed that what it shows is exactly what they lived.

This film does not focus on the origins of the conflict in which each side can give their own version. Does not delve into political issues or say who is right or wrong. Only presents the conflict and shows its consequences, children were murdered, women were raped and people died.

The film is violent and brutal. The film is very effective in giving us this scene of terror and carnage. The issues it tries to show are real. It is certainly not for all to see, do not watch expecting feel fine walking out.

The film is shocking. The film is ghastly in its realism, it shows the horrible and brutal reality and the Darfur movie shows it very obviously.

This film truly disturbed viewers in ways no other had, once it shows the desperation of the indigenous people and the inability for the AU or the UN to do anything to resolve the current issues, something that should resonate in any sensible persons mind.

THE STORY
A group of international journalists who visit a little town in Darfur in western Sudan to document the situation, where they see for themselves what is happening here in this region of the world. Darfuri speak to them in restraining tears, husked or voices speaking with quiet resentment towards these people who promise to show the world what is happening.Through speaking to the locals they learn of the atrocities that have been suffered. The villagers speak in hushed tones of mass executions, rape with the threat of AIDS and abduction, murdered children and widespread atrocities.Suddenly, they become witnesses to the attack by a group of savage people to the village where they did their interviews.Being led by a small group of military units from the African Union peacekeeping mission, they learn the ruthless local state sponsored militia called the Janjaweed are heading towards the village and a massacre is about to take place. They are confronted with an unimaginable choice and must decide whether to leave Sudan and report the monstrosities to the world, or risk their lives and stay and try to help in the hopes of averting a certain slaughter.
While majority of them flee back to their base, two of the journalists, Freddie Smith and Theo Schwartz, choose to stay behind alongside the Nigerian commandant of the US unit, Captain Jack Tobamke. The three attempt to spare the villagers when the Arab Janjaweed enter the town and start to indiscriminately murder all the men, women, and children. Regardless of their endeavors to save some villagers, Theo, Freddie and Captain Tobamke are all slaughtered one by one in the ensuing shootout with the Janjaweed, but not after injuring and killing a couple of dozen of the savage milita. The surviving Janjaweed then blaze the town to the ground and proceed onward, apparently to proceed with their frenzy over other Darfur genocide territory.

The last scene shows Malin Lausberg, the female member of the group, who fled with the majority of other journalists and AU officers amid the Janjaweed assault, come back to the wrecked town the following day with a group of AU troopers just to discover everyone dead , including two of her teammates. She also finds a baby that Theo secured by hiding away under his dead body as the sole survivor of the massacre. Malin brings the child with her as she and the rest of the AU troops leave the village behind pulverized and damage.
